The Spirit Of Nemo Is The Wildest Car You’ve Ever Seen

Attention, Hollywood: the premier builder of movie cars is not in Burbank or El Segundo or Vancouver. He’s in West End, North Carolina, and he can create anything you want. The proof is in his garage. It’s 24 feet long, wide as a Kenworth, with six wheels. It’s called the Spirit of Nemo, and it’s a doppelganger for Captain Nemo’s car from the 2003 Sean Connery film “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.” In the annals of fan-built movie cars, nobody else has ever attempted a Nemo car. “And now,” says builder Ken Freeman, “I know why.” MORE:

Inside the Used-Car Showroom of Your Dreams

There are sellers of used and consigned cars. And then there’s Fantasy Junction. Although located in a slightly tough part of Emeryville, Calif. — you can’t miss the steel bars over the windows — the warehouse that Spencer Trenery calls his office is stuffed bumper to bumper with some of the most astounding vehicles in the country. “It’s not a bad view, I’ll give you that,” says Trenery, patting his dog on the head as he gazes out past his office door to the fleet at his feet. “We have fun here.” MORE:

The disappointing dozen: Cars that fail to measure up

By Jeff Bartlett:

Look no further than our annual Top Picks list and you’ll see there are many great cars on the market today. At the other end of the spectrum are models that fall well short of being competitive. Here, we highlight our disappointing dozen—the cars Consumer Reports has recently tested with the lowest test scores.
In perusing these models, you'll find a wide range of car types—small cars, luxury cars, SUVs, and pickups. Likewise, there are several brands represented, with Fiat, Jeep, and Toyota each having more than one model to capture this undesirable distinction. At the corporate level, both Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Toyota Motor Sales each have four models on the list.
Our criticisms of these vehicles are often similar, with common shortcomings being poor ride, sloppy handling, tepid acceleration, too much engine noise, and an uncomfortable driving position. Sure, these models may be better than the old jalopy you're looking to trade in, but they do not hold up against the latest competition. MORE:

Driving the fastest 'Vette ever

By Alex Lloyd
Motoramic

If you ever race at Road Atlanta, pack your big boy undies. As you exit the final chicane, bouncing over the blind right-hand crest with your foot firmly planted to the floor – chugging every single one of the 650 horses on tap like Jim Morrison emptying a bar of all its vodka – you arrive at the track’s notorious 12th turn. Just a small lift is all it takes, keeping the minimum speed pegged at 110 mph. The wall is feet from the edge of the track, taunting you to lift further. You see tire marks revealing the perils of wrongdoings – a vast trail of destruction. But in this car, you needn’t fret. As Harry Hogge famously said in Days of Thunder, “you can hold it.” The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has widely been presumed — before a single soul outside of the company has even driven it — to be one of the best machines GM has ever built. I refused to get sucked into these presumptions, but I must admit, on paper – 650 hp, 650 lb-ft of torque; 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and winglets that appear fresh off the C7.R Le Mans car — it does sound bloody amazing.
